- My image defiantly attempts to persuade the audience of something. it attempts to show the audience that everyone has forgotten about the fact that Obama has a major job to do working on the economy, and that everyone is way too excited about having a black president.
- There are more elements in this cartoon than the reader originally thinks. At first, everyone can understand the point of the cartoon. However, upon further analyzing, the reader Can see deeper. For instance, the cartoon is directly set outside of the Oval office, meaning that Obama is now moved in and ready to go. Also, look at the mannerisms of the octopus; it is staring right into the office, destroying everything in its path.
- The only thing you need to know about the author is that he writes for several different newspapers. This means that the intended audience is people who watch the news.
- My interpretation of the cartoon is that everyone s way too caught up with the fact that this election is historic and that they don't realize that we are still in need of help.

Goal for English 103
I have just one simple goal for English 103; however, it is not going to be easy to attain it. My one goal is to get an A in the class. That being said, I also wish to grow in my knowledge and ability to write and communicate effectively and properly. I wish to be able to write professional letters, and to be able to write proper emails. In essence, I wish to learn everything I possibly can that will help me to get into veterinary school. In order to get an A in this class, I will need to do a number of different things. For one, I need to rite everything down, so I can avoid missing any homework assignments or due dates. One of my biggest issues in high school was not being well-organized, so this year I bought an organizer and I actually use it. So far, I am off to a decent start. Other things that I need to do in order to do well in the class include coming into class everyday with a positive attitude and awake. I cant just mope into class tired and hungover. I need to be awake, alert, and focused. I also need to keep on top of long-term assignments, so I don't have to cram overbearing amounts of work into a small amount of time. If i can do all these things, English 103 will prove to be a valuable asset to me, not only in a good grade, but in the life lessons learned while taking it.

I am a scientific person- there is no doubt about it. To convince me of anything, I need proof, and lots of it. I naturally doubt what people try to tell me, unless they are some sort of important figure that has well-established ideas. Therefore, it is no surprise that the commericals, and ads in general, that I find most convincing are ones that appeal to logos. Because there is so much nonsense on the television, it's hard to know what is fact versus opinion. For instance, recently companies like Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota have been creating new designs on their full sized pickups. Each company claims to have better gas mileage, more power, and more space. In each commercial, each company is correct only because they compare their tricked-out truck to the base of the other company. However, the way they portray it is that their average truck beats the average of the other companies. That's why the most convincing commercials and ads that I have seen recently are anti-smoking commercials. Recently I saw an ad where a young man read off a response letter from a tobacco company when they were told that smoking causes pregnant women to have under-weight babies. The letter says in response " Some women may like to have under-weight babies". This is convincing advertising; it is shocking, true, and attention-grabbing. It also somewhat appeals to pathos, as it causes us to feel angry towards the tobacco companies. Combining logos and pathos together, these advertisements really get the point across, and get the viewers to believe what they believe.
